What is great about summer is that you can simply throw on a basic stripe knit dress and slip on a pair of shoes and sunglasses and VOILÀ, you’ve got yourself an amazing stylish and versatile outfit! This dress was less than $35…see outfit detail for link.

In the spirit of Canada Day being just around the corner….and don’t forget it’s their mega 150th anniversary! I thought I’d do a post about what I had planned to wear for this years celebration as well as for my son Sasha.

I was even more excited planning my red accessories!! If you don’t know me, I usually enjoy wearing a simple outfit and adding accessories to personalize it for my taste which is usually in bright colors. That being said I always make sure that they follow my wardrobe tips which I’ve mentioned in a previous post. I fell in love with these SMILE red flats from ED by Ellen. They sold out very quickly everywhere but fortunately my good friends at Lord’s Shoes in Vancouver managed to get me a pair and ship them to me! So happy!!! However, you can find them in other colors online with “love” or the basic red ones.

A question I get asked very often is “do you need to match your accessories (shoes, handbag and jewellery) to your outfit?”, NOT AT ALL!

However, in light of the Canada Day’s, Red and White celebration, I decided to wear only these 2 colors.

*STYLE TIP* Wearing a simple stripe dress is the easiest way to get through the summer and summer events! It has become a classic and a must-have in anyones closet next to your LBD (little black dress). Every year, stores either sell black, navy or red stripe dresses to cover your basic needs, so it is always very easy to find.*STYLE TIP 2* I am very comfortable in dresses. The key is to read the fabric content on the labels. I almost always buy 100% cotton, which is a very breathable fabric in summer and in a knit (a fabric made of interlocking loops) will automatically give you just enough stretch to move comfortably.

As for Sasha’s Keen sandals, they are absolutely perfect for rough terrains …like the park or for rough kids. If he gets them wet, no problem, simply throw them in the washing machine and that’s it!!
