Winter Style: Wearing bright red

If you don’t know how to wear color, the easiest trick is to wear the same color from head to toe.

This isn’t only for Valentine’s Day outfits or during the holidays, in fact, this Spring we will be seeing some bold colors and even pastels in monochromatic looks (head to toe looks).  I have been loving this way of wearing color and cannot wait to try wearing it in more colors this Spring.

A Canadian Valentine’s Day with Fun, Loving Items

Do you enjoy Valentine’s Day?

When I started writing this post, I thought of giving you gift ideas for Valentine’s Day.  However, I soon realized that it would make it more special to find one of a kind, small businesses that have unique and fun or lovely and useful products, even better, why not start by focusing on Canadian products.  I truly enjoy and happily spend hours on end searching for new products and brands that are interesting and lovely to own.

Sweater Season & Tips on how to find the right one for you!

Sweater season is upon us, well at least here and for most of the country.  I used to dislike winter, the cold weather, the lack of sunshine and especially the sea of black, red and grey color options in some of the stores….so to compensate I’ve tried to find ways to keep adding fun, colorful sweaters in my wardrobe, even during the winter months.

So move over black and grey sweaters, here are my top tips & picks on where you may find some great selection of colorful and classic sweaters to wear this winter.

Trying something different: A twist on the classic stripe shirt

OUTFIT: Zara Shirt (other fun blouses here, here, here and here), Anthropologie Pants (old), Bussola shoes (old)

I did something that I never do …

I wore a classic button down stripe shirt. Okay, that might not seem impressive or different as stripe shirts are basically known as a must-have in everyone’s closet….well not for me!

I absolutely dislike wearing “une blouse” (in french) or the classic button-down shirt.  The simple reason is

How to wear yellow this summer

MY OUTFIT: Yellow Anthropologie blouse sold out (same style in white), belted pants, Matiko sandals sold out (another option), silk printed scarf (old)

Ever since the Summer collection appeared a few months ago, we have seen the yellow color pop up everywhere!  I can happily say that this is a great thing as most people tend to shy away from this bright color.

However, to make things easier and to make this color more wearable, there has been this softer lemon color that has also made it’s way on the market and can be worn as a neutral replacing the pure white or beige classics that are always on rotation.

4 SHOPPING TIPS TO HAVE A BETTER WARDROBE

Do you find yourself standing in front of your closet in the morning and thinking “I have nothing to wear!” only to be looking at a closet full of clothing OR even skipping an event because you secretly have nothing to wear (and not really because you don’t feel like it)?  Well you aren’t alone, I cannot speak for men here but I know this happens often to women. A Mother’s Day Afternoon Tea

Mother’s Day is a time to show our appreciation and to celebrate our mother or mother figures in our lives.  While I don’t get a chance to see my mother that often since she lives across the country, I enjoy getting together with other mom’s that are part of my life here in Montreal.  While my son is to young to realize what this day signifies, now that I am a mother myself, I find it more meaningful  and important to be celebrating this day.

What to do on Mother’s Day?

This year I celebrated Mother’s Day with an afternoon tea at my cousin’s place.  Being the amazing hostess she is, I knew that I would have to share this special day with all of you.

Double Denim Duty

My Outfit: GAP Denim jacket, GAP Jeans (old, similar here), GAP t-shirt, jcrew velvet belt worn as bracelet (old), necklace (old)

Denim has always been an item in everyone’s closet.  You might even own a few too many pairs since they come in so many washes and lenghts and designs.  Spring had new trends of embroidered denim, patches, fringe bottoms and what I am calling a double denim style wearing different denim clothing together.

This post is a style inspiration for you on this double denim style and how you can wear it on a daily basis.

Travel Style: Bright Colors, Dresses and Comfort in Cuba

I think it’s safe to say that most people love to travel or wished they could do it more often. I am always happy to prepare what I will wear on vacation. To prevent from overpacking I have learnt to plan outfits from head to toe (the hat, the jewellery, the clothes, the shoes), and I try, emphasis on try, to wear my outfits at least twice mixed with other pieces to keep my luggage light (it always ends being the maximum weight anyways!). I used to pack lots of jewellery, shoes and handbags before I had Sasha but now I need to include his things in my bags too so I try to pick what will be more versatile.

The one thing I make sure to pack are colorful pieces that will match the tropical feel!
